Fargesia nitida

Small leaf purple bamboo
Fargesia nitida is a thin bamboo with a very vertical visual pattern. The foliage seems to float around the whip-like culms. A dainty and graceful bamboo. The stems are purple. Average spread about 2.5ft. This bamboo has recently been flowering and the old clumps will now be dead or will soon die. These were plants that were introduced from seed in about 1889 from seed. Jungle Giants offers this species from recent seedling stock.
