Phyllostachys nigra 'Henonis'

Phyllostachys nigra 'Henonis'

Henon bamboo
The Japanese call this the 'light and volatile Bamboo' (ha-chiku) which sums up this plant admirably. It has widely arching and slender canes topped with masses of shimmering leaves. Good for hedges and screens.

Tall and clump growing, it will respond well to feeding and start to spread. Olive green canes turn to grey with age.

A gracious Bamboo with ethereal looks. One of the few temperate bamboo capable of growing to a great height in the UK. Very tolerant of climatic extremes and probably the strongest form of the species.
