	Phyllostachys violascens Chameleon bamboo Violascens is an arresting bamboo, prized for its unusual stripey culm markings which display a wide variety of colours, depending on the situation. New shoots are dark violet growing into brown striped yellow-green culms. Older culms develop rusty red-yellow stripes which then turn purple. There is also a wide variation in the internodes, some of which appear to be inflated. A curious and unusual bamboo with a clipped appearance.
