 | Drepanostachyum Here are some handsome bamboos from the far Himalayan mountains. Many will withstand several degrees of frost. Given some shelter in a mild position with good air humidity, these bamboos grow into graceful plants. With very small, thin leaves and multiple branches of uniform size which together in groups give a pompon silhouette, this bamboo can grow fast even in its first year. Altogether nice plants.

 | Fargesia The Fargesia genus is extremely well suited to the climate of northern Europe as it is very hardy and reliable. Full of flowing, weeping foliage moving in the wind, glazed in winter and a green abundance in summer. An excellent host for bird life. All are clumping, well behaved and lend themselves to hedging and screening. They originate from high altitudes in China across Burma and the Himalayas. In general, they are forest floor plants good for semi-shade and shade positions.
Useful for growing in containers in the garden.
Photo features Fargesia denudata.
